About Us

What is the SAC
We are a group which discusses various elements of higher education, we review the IBHE agenda, and we discuss how to make higher education better for the students of Illinois.

Mission
The Illinois Board of Higher Education Student Advisory Committee will effectively represent the ideals and concerns of the students of Illinois, serving as the chief liaison between such students and the IBHE through organized advocacy and policy initiatives as directed by the students of all Illinois institutions of higher education.

Vision
Through actions rather than words, the Illinois Board of Higher Education Student Advisory Committee will protect, promote and defend the rights of students and families to an affordable, accessible, and quality higher education; conveying the needs and concerns of millions-uniting in one voice.

Values
Service.
Contributing to the welfare of all students
By promoting proactive partnerships that encourage student development, the Student Advisory Committee embraces the means of providing access and availability to a higher education for all students.  We believe in service to the students of Illinois before self and will not be distracted from our mission by personal interests.

Advocacy. Upholding the fundamental rights of students
Embracing the principles of shared governance, the Student Advisory Committee; with leadership through discussion and development, will make recommendations and provide direction on issues and ideas from a student perspective.  We will represent Illinois students to the Board of Higher Education through a diverse array of members from all sectors of higher education.

Service. Striving valiantly to do what is best for students
Believing in the integrity of our action, the Student Advisory Committee is committed to promoting, promoting, protecting, and defending the rights of students throughout the State of Illinois.  Knowing the triumph of great achievement and the undying need for students to be omnipresent in the decision making process, we will devote ourselves  to worthy causes in the arena of higher education; this is our source of greatest enthusiasm and devotion.

The Student Advisory Committee aims to influence policy for higher education so that it better serves the stakeholders of Illinois.  Through our values of service, advocacy, and commitment we hope to represent all of the students in Illinois' system of Higher Education.  We are an action-orientated group that strives for nothing less than perfection, and with your help, we can accomplish our mission in the upcoming academic school year; welcome aboard!
